In 1956 Peter Brook did a production of 'Onegin' at the MET, which I actually saw a few years later. It floated oddly between the minimal and suggestions of the traditional. Not one of his major inspirations. At a time when Rudolph Bing was trying to up the quality of stage direction at the theatre.
