As the epitome of female sexual derailment, Salome has been portrayed with some eagerness alternately as a frigid narcissist, as a femme fatale, as an innocent child-woman and victim, as well as a goddess of revenge. Directors of the woke era often showed only interest in the latter variant. So did director Ersan Mondtag.
