When asked about his signature role in Bayreuth, Wotan/Wanderer, which the English bass sang in both the Barenboim/Kupfer and Levine/Rosalie/Kirchner productions, John Tomlinson can't help but gush:

In those 10 years, I have sung every performance and every rehearsal, not once canceling. Of course, you need luck for that. Normally, you have to cancel a performance at some point. But that never happened. And I am very proud of that. I think it's a record in Bayreuth.
