André Engel directs The Cunning Little Vixen in Paris (****) [live]
Of course, it was Gerard Mortier who brought this production of the Cunning Little Vixen to Paris in 2008, eight years after it premiered at Serge Dorny's opera temple in Lyon. Mortier had already understood for a long time that Leoš Janáček was not only one of the greatest opera composers of the 20th century but that in him there was also hiding a great humanist. The reason why director André Engel 's name no longer appears in the program book today is unknown to me. Dagmar Pischel was in charge of the restaging.
