Announcement to our subscribers
Dear Readers,
Opera is a world of passion, drama, and unparalleled artistry—yet for many, it remains an elusive and often misunderstood realm. Whether you’re a long-time aficionado or just beginning to explore this rich and immersive art form, the opera blog of the Flemish Wagner Society can be of help.
After three years of providing free content under the roof of Substack, we are now introducing a paid subscription model. It is a way to ensure that we can continue to devote the time, research, and energy required to bring you the content you’ve come to appreciate. In the years ahead, we commit ourselves to continue to provide content along the same path with in-depth analyses of selected opera productions (live/streams/cinema) and essays on opera subjects (Wagner in particular), at the same time resurrecting older interviews with high-profile artists still having relevance for us today (mainly through our copyright of Opernwelt and Opernglas). No subject from the cultural field is too hot for us, and we do not allow ourselves to be thrown off guard by ill-considered fashions that can temporarily take possession of the cultural world. We also do allow guest authors: if you like to contribute with an interesting piece of your writing, check with us to see if it fits within the scope of our publication.
Paid subscribers from Belgium and The Netherlands will instantly become members of the Flemish Wagner Society. In addition they will receive our monthly newsletter Wagner News and the quarterly edition of Leitmotif as pdf. If you prefer not to become a member, just send us a message. We have no intention yet of producing these materials in English for our international subscribers. If you are a Dutch speaker living abroad and wish to enjoy membership, send us a message and we will put you on the mailing list.
If you’ve enjoyed our work and found value in it, we encourage you to consider becoming a paid subscriber. Subscription plans will be available in a few days. Your support will make an immediate and meaningful impact. If you decide not to contribute financially, you can still help by sharing this blog with others who might enjoy it. Spreading the word is another way to keep our project vibrant and growing.
Thank you for your support !
